2013 Geyser Peak, California, Sauvignon Blanc:
A relatively simple wine with tart grapefruit and melon rind flavors, it’s refreshing and properly structured to work well as an aperitif or paired with oily foods.
86 points. $7.00
2013 Mark West, California, Pinot Noir:
Mark West is a consistent producer of fine Pinot Noir from a number of appellations. This one, because of its broad California appellation, doesn’t get the respect it deserves. Light-bodied, dry, with a silky texture and a core of fresh cherry, it shows some complexity with light earthy notes and baking spices, as well as a bit of minerality in the vibrant finish. More than you’d expect from a wine this inexpensive. 88 points. $9 – $10.00.
