It’s cool and pleasant here in Lexington, Kentucky and if we hadn’t just spent several days on the beautiful coast of Mississippi we would have enjoyed the lovely weather. But my sister in law and I have just returned from our first visit to the wonderful white sandy beaches and the gorgeous green and blue water on the coast of lovely Mississippi. We were in the mood to spend some time a a lovely beach town so we contacted the friendly folks at the #Coastal Mississippi office. They absolutely could not have been more friendly and helpful with arranging our trip. Kris Hummer was immediately responsive to my emails and she spent a great deal of time arranging our stary. I have worked with a lot of local representatives of local offices but this was truly one of the best I have ever experienced.

She replied almost instantly to all emails and spent a of time arranging our stay at two equally fabulous hotels right on the beautiful beaches and our visits and tons of great activities. We pilled all our fabulous travel stuff into our car and headed out on a beautiful warm fall day. It was going to be about a 10 drive to Biloxi from Lexington so we stopped for the night and headed out the next day arriving in about 4 hours.

Our first destination was the beautiful Hotel Legends which is right on Beach Boulevard overlooking the Mississippi Sound in the heart of Biloxi. The outside of the hotel was beautiful and the lovely neighborhood was equally lovely with a beautiful beach and dock area a short stroll right across the street in front of the hotel.

We breathed in the lovely fresh air that was blowing in our direction from the water right across the street and enjoyed our first day at the beach. We located a luggage cart, unloaded our car with all our precious travel items and headed up to our room. We got the luggage through the door and then stood with our mouths hanging open as we surveyed our lovely, lovely suite. There was a kitchen, a small but comfortable living room and TWO bedrooms each with its own private bath. This was by far the nicest hotel room we had ever stayed in! In conversation with hotel employees we found out later this was one of the nicest suites in the hotel and we enjoyed every second in it.

We relaxed all afternoon in our lovely suite then got ready to go down to the restaurant where they had planned for us to attend the show. We were so lucky with our wonderful friends who had arranged meals for us at many different restaurants during our visit but our dinner and the show were truly wonderful and some of the best food we had all week, The musical show was wonderful and the performer shared lots of different music with us. We were sad when it was over!

I normally write all the posts about our fabulous trips but my sister in law and wonderful travel partner also wrote some about this trip so I’m going to include some of her notes because she is a wonderful writer and will give you a better idea of our experiences. Here’s what she wrote about our first day.

Our recent getaway to Biloxi, Mississippi, was nothing short of exceptional, made all the more memorable by our stay at the Legends Hotel, where we were treated like royalty. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, making us feel like VIPs throughout our stay. The hotel’s elegance and service set the tone for an unforgettable trip.

One of the highlights of our adventure was the shrimp boat tour, which provided a fascinating glimpse into the Gulf Coast’s rich seafood industry. Learning about the process from sea to plate gave us a deeper appreciation for the fresh seafood we later enjoyed at Shaggy’s, a local favorite known for its laid-back atmosphere and delicious Gulf cuisine.

As we explored the town, we were captivated by the stunning murals scattered throughout Biloxi, each telling a story of the city’s history and culture. We also admired the Angel Trees, wooden sculptures carved from trees devastated by Hurricane Katrina, a poignant reminder of the region’s resilience.

Our day continued with a breathtaking tour of Ship Island, where we soaked in the beauty of the Gulf waters. A visit to Half Shell Oyster House rounded off our exploration of Biloxi’s vibrant dining scene, delivering fresh, flavorful seafood in a cozy setting.

The next morning, we enjoyed a delightful breakfast at the Toasted Yolk Café, where the flavors were as inviting as the service. With full bellies, we ventured to Ocean Springs, a charming town just a short drive away. We spent the afternoon perusing local vendors and enjoying a picturesque picnic lunch on the beach, organized by Coastal Picnic Company. The fresh air, sand between our toes, and delicious bites made for a perfect midday retreat.

Later, we checked into the Driftwood Motel, a nostalgic nod to the 1960s with its retro vibe and quirky charm. Our evening ended at the 200 North Beach Restaurant in historic Bay Saint Louis, where we dined on exquisite seafood while soaking up the historic ambiance.

Lastly, our entire itinerary was flawlessly arranged by Kris Hummer, Public, and Media Relations Specialist, who was not only friendly but also meticulous in curating an experience that combined relaxation, local culture, and adventure. Her thoughtful planning made everything seamless, allowing us to focus on enjoying every moment of our trip.

One of the neatest things we did on our visit was to take to take two lovely and wonderful cruises. The first one was a fabulous sailing trip with the Biloxi Shrimping Trip. We left from the dock area on another beautiful sunny warm day and had a lovely cruse seeing the area and listening to all kinds of information about the area. We lovely every minute and recommend it to all visitors!

Our wonderful little ship

The captain shared all kinds of information!

Our second cruise was equally as nice and we were comfortably arranged on an equally nice boat with a wonderful crew and plenty or room to walk around and see the fabulous views. The Ship Island Excursions offer tons of tons of different cruises, many of which go out go out to the Ship Island which is a beautiful place to explore. We didn’t realize we could get off the ship and explore around if we wanted to. We should have asked because the island was beautiful! If you out there, explore the area!

The next night we met our local representative for dinner and had a lovely experience with her with delicious food and wonderful conversations and the experience was so great! She was absolutely the best PR person I had ever worked with. She made sure everything was arranged for us and anytime I asked for help she replied almost instantly and answered my questions. One of the coolest things she arranged for us was a lunch on the beach one day with  Seas of the Day

They arranged absolutely everything and we enjoyed the entire experience. They had wonderful food, place settings and comfy chairs for us.

Chalkboard for our lovely beach lunch They arranged everything for us from the beautiful tables and chairs set out with all kinds of delicious food.

It was a beautiful and warm sunny day and a perfect day for lunch on the beach.

After some of our adventures, we checked out of Legends and headed to the Driftwood Motel which was also a lovely hotel.

Overall, Driftwood Motel gave us a warm feeling of nostalgia—like a classic car show or kids having fun at the pool, reminding us of simpler, more carefree times.

As you know I loved it!

My travel partner loved the Driftwood Motel while I preferred the Legends Hotel so, each to their own taste!

Our lovely little Driftwood Hotel

The Driftwood Motel was also just as nice as Legends. The lovely little hotel reminded us of hotels we had stayed in a kids with our families. Our room was quite lovely with a big bathroom and large comfortable beds. There was a beautiful pool and a nice kitchen area with fresh coffee made every morning.

We had a wonderful lovely stay at this hotel and another fabulous meal at one of the local restaurants. We had tons of great food and wonderful meals at all the local restaurants that our friends recommended to us. We truly appreciated all the wonderful help and all the suggestions they gave us. If you are planning a beach trip soon, you should consider this beautiful area. We loved everything about it!
