Lemons hint of the promise of spring.
This recipe from Mother accompanied us from the east coast to the west coast as a young married couple.
The squares are a cinch to make.  Friends and family (and our children’s friends) are fans.
The crusty base and sweet/tart layer combination is sensational. We happily learned the lemons from our backyard tree made a surprising difference.

Instructions
  1. Crust: mix flour, confectioner's sugar. Cut in butter. Press into 9x12" pan. Bake 15-20 minutes @ 350 degrees.
  2. Filling: Combine remaining ingredients & pour over baked crust. Bake 20 minutes longer. Sift or sprinkle confectioner's sugar on top. Cool. Cut into bars.
